Today, Chalkbeat New York published an article (in which I was featured) on the proposed changes to the Common Core standards in New York State. I am a member of the Mathematics Standards Review Committee that met over the summer to review and revise the standards.
I was one of the teachers that was featured in the article, which explained how the proposed changes in the Common Core could affect classroom teaching. I said that the changes would help to clarify teaching since many of the original standards were too vague, too specific, or misplaced.
