Math Mistakes

In this Education Week blog article, Larisa Bukalov and I discuss math mistakes that students make and what we do to help students correct themselves.

We discuss three types of errors: precision errors (like not rounding correctly), conceptual errors (like adding instead of multiplying length and width to find the area of a rectangle), and processing errors (like being unable to understand the meaning of “Evaluate f(2) when f(x) = x2 + 1″ because it requires a lot of specialized knowledge).
